Ayse Papatya Bucak was born in Istanbul, Turkey—to an American mother and a Turkish father—but spent most of her childhood in Havertown, PA.  She earned a BA from Princeton University and an MFA from Arizona State University.  Her stories and essays have been published in many journals, including Guernica, Creative Nonfiction, Kenyon Review, Prairie Schooner, The Iowa Review, and Brevity. Her story collection, The Trojan War Museum, won the Story Prize Spotlight Award 2019-20 and was shortlisted for the 2020 PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize for Debut Short Story Collection.  She teaches in the MFA program at Florida Atlantic University and is a contributing editor for the journal Copper Nickel.
